COURSE OBJECTIVES

The students will have acquired general knowledge regarding:

  • Performance-Based Navigation (PBN)
  • Ground-Based Systems – VOR
  • GNSS
  • On-board equipment
  1. PERFORMANCE-BASED NAVIGATION (PBN): Description of the main concepts of PBN: operational requirements, PBN, RNAV, NOTAM. 
  2. GROUND-BASED SYSTEMS – VOR: Description of the main concepts of VOR: use of the system, fundamentals of CVOR and/or DVOR, ground station architecture, transmitter subsystem, antenna subsystem, monitoring & control subsystem, on-board equipment, system check & maintenance.
  3. GLOBAL NAVIGATION SATELLITE SYSTEM (GNSS): Description of the main concepts of GNSS: general view.
  4. ON-BOARD EQUIPMENT: Description of the On-Board Equipment used for navigation: on-board systems, inertial navigation, vertical navigation.
